It somehow hadn't occurred to me that we had a military presence on Wake Island before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. So this film compares the Battle of Wake Island to the Alamo. An isolated outpost gets news of Pearl Harbor and defends itself as long as it can against the Japanese onslaught that follows. Great production value with the planes, but pretty wooden acting. Whole thing feels rushed to get it out just nine months after the battle it depicts. Though I appreciate that it was done to honor the lives lost and boost morale in the middle of the war.
4 to go...
